Technical meaning. A chatbot is a conversational interface where users type or speak and the system replies.

Where people see it. You see chatbots on websites, help centers, sales pages, internal portals, and messaging apps.

Small business example. A website chatbot can answer common questions about hours, services, booking, and next steps.

Mistake to avoid. Do not make a chatbot the front door unless it can hand off cleanly when it does not know the answer.
